Ebrahim Barkoudah, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., F.A.C.P., S.F.H.M., F.A.C.H.E.

Dr. Barkoudah is a member of the Brigham Health Hospital Medicine Unit in the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is the Associate Director of Hospital Medicine Unit and a Medical Director in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Barkoudah is an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Barkoudah care for patients with a wide range of clinical disorders during hospitalization from complex disease management in medicine to subspecialties. Another area of interest is postgraduate medical education. Dr. Barkoudah serves as an educator and teacher and led Harvard Medical School international education efforts. As a clinical leader, Dr. Barkoudah focuses on system-based optimization of the clinical operation and in order to improve healthcare delivery and employ strategies to standardize management and source allocation for inpatient services. He is board certified in both internal medicine and hospital medicine.

Dr. Barkoudah represents the Hospital Medicine subspecialty in multiple national society including American College of Physicians (ACP) and the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM). He is the current co-president of SHM Boston and former cochair of early career council in ACP. He won multiple regional of national awards for this contribution. He is a Fellow of ACP and Senior Fellow of SHM. He is currently serving on multiple national committees and task force in leadership roles.

Dr. Barkoudah’s research interest lies in clinical research outcomes as well as clinical trials of therapeutic interventions through his role in the Clinical Endpoint Center at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His work focuses on quality improvement and clinical innovation. He currently serves on several clinical innovation’s committees, at Brigham and Women’s Healthcare and Partners Healthcare.

After serving as a post-doctoral research fellow in physiology, Dr. Barkoudah completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He served as a assistant in medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital, then joined the General Medicine Division at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as Associate Physician, and Harvard Medical School as Instructor in Medicine. He has also earned a master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Br. Barkoudah completed executive education at Harvard Business School through Brigham Leadership Program and the Safety and Quality Fellowship Program at Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
